Harry J. Heiman, MD of Satcher Health Leadership Institute

harry-heiman-mdDr. Harry J. Heiman is Director of Health Policy at the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. He is an assistant professor in the department of family medicine, in which he teaches medical students, residents, and public health students. Prior to joining the Satcher Health Leadership Institute in 2009, Dr. Heiman practiced clinical family medicine for more than 20 years. He has served on the public health and legislative committees of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and is the board chair of Georgians for a Healthy Future, a consumer health advocacy organization.

In September 2012, Dr. Heiman joined seven other exceptional health leaders to begin a Robert Wood Johnson Fellowship in Washington, D.C. “The RWJF Health Policy Fellowship provides firsthand training on how to use health policy to improve public health and health care,” says Dr. Marie Michnich, director and alumna of the RWJF Health Policy Fellows program. “For 37 years, this program has attracted some of the most talented professionals in health and health care. Our 2012-2013 fellows continue to raise the bar.”
